How to Get There

Yavapai Point is 5 miles (8 kilometers) from the South Entrance Station and less than a mile from the Grand Canyon Visitor Center. You can reach the Grand Canyon by personal car or on a tour. Once inside the park it is recommended to park at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center and use the shuttle service or South Rim Trail to reach Yavapai Point.

When to Get There

Yavapai Point is open year round and the Yavapai Geology Museum is open from 8am to 6pm in winter and 8am to 8pm the rest of the year. Visit the center for information about ranger-led walks throughout the day. The point is a popular location for sunrise and sunset photos.

Wildcard

The Yavapai Geology Museum Historically known as the Yavapai Observation Station, the park was renamed the Yavapai Geology Museum in 2007. While it still offers panoramic views through large windows, its new focus is geology exhibits. You can learn about the formation of the Grand Canyon through three-dimensional topographical models, educational displays, and interactive exhibits. There is also a bookstore and gift shop inside.
